Redwoods Bifold in Black & Natural
"...like a hockey puck sliding into a bowl of India ink."
- Snow Crash.
We stole it from Neil Stephenson, but that's pretty much the best way to describe the deepness of the black shell on this. Conceria Walpier, an Italian tannery famous for its saturated colors and waxy finish, produce this leather. It is fun to look at and work with, not so much fun to photograph.
Otherwise its a traditional bifold wallet, thin enough to carry in a back or front pocket. Inside its a split of natural and black, the lighter natural leather will patina into a rich mid-brown with time.
The naked edges show the construction layers, burnished by hand for protection and sealed with beeswax for a glossy finish.
We've been carrying, using and making this bifold style for years, and it's our favorite piece to produce.
